History of camping Domaine de Senaud

decobleudroite2

Domaine de Senaud is a family estate

Formerly the summer residence of the bishops of Vienne, the estate was purchased in 1828 by Clémence de Bernon, the great-grandmother of Countess Alix d’Armagnac de Castanet. Madame de Bernon, of Norman origin, enhanced the château, transforming the originally flat roof of canal tiles into a sloping slate roof.

At that time, the estate was a large agricultural enterprise. The campsite was created in 1959 by Countess Alix d’Armagnac de Castanet.

Well-known and much sought-after in the 80s and 90s, this 4-star campsite affiliated to the famous Castels chain was very popular with Dutch holidaymakers.

Unfortunately, the numerous renovations required to keep the site up to standard were not carried out as planned, leading to the campsite’s closure in 2007.

Michel de Maindreville, grandson of the former owner, is the new campsite manager.

Fascinated by the region and highly motivated by the challenge of restoring the campsite to its former glory, Michel, with the help of his family, redoubled his efforts to undertake the many necessary works and give the campsite a modern, youthful look.

So, after more than 10 years of dormancy, the Domaine de Senaud campsite has opened its doors for the 2018 season with a new generation who are motivated, dynamic and ready to welcome new holidaymakers.
